Z1 Audio System

The first 500 units to roll off the production were privileged to receive a Sony XR-5B818 4 Channel Radio Cassette Head Unit badged as 'Z1 Audio System' on the front panel. In addition an Amplifier was fitted behind the dash, 2x 5.1/4” Bosch component speakers in the footwell, tweeters under the metal mesh dashboard grill and Optional 6 CD Auto Changer (CDX-A15), fitted to the boot via the 5pin din plug.

These units were inevitably replaced in favour of more modern devices, leading to their rarity and increase in price. For more detailed information see Audio System

2x 5” speakers were fitted to the footwells, 4ohm Model LPT 130, part number 65131386546, made by Nokia no less.

Lift out retaining clamp.

Unscrew side trim panel.

Lift retainer with a screwdriver.

Pull out radio.

Unscrew screws. Pull connection housing forward and disconnect all plugs.

Remove center console - Unscrew screw and loosen clamp. Pull out amplifier from the side.

Pull off plugs.

Unscrew screws on both sides and take off holder.

The surround is secured in 9 places with a torq headed screw, obscured by the head unit, remove that, heater controls and gently prise forward.
